The surname field in IRIS has a fixed character limit of 30, while the first name field is 20 and it cannot be extended to accommodate longer names.
As Companies House requires the submitted name to exactly match the name held on its records, abbreviating or shortening the surname is not possible, as it causes the submission to be rejected. Where the surname and/ or first name exceeds the maximum number of characters IRIS recommended submitting the filing directly through the Companies House Webfiling service rather than through IRIS.
