Presently HMRC only supply a total pension figure when calling data via the API, however, the requirement is to send individual pension details when sending data via the API. HMRCs roadmap indicates this will change in the future and they will send individual pension details.
It is desirable to maintain separate records for pensions, therefore, at present we need to display the total figure coming from HMRC, but not to overwrite what is already there.
