For capital losses used against prior year income, HMRC gives the relief as an adjustment in the current year. But when this is entered on Tax Filer, within the 'Capital Gains’ section in the 'Capital Losses' tab, the amount does not get taken into account into the final tax return.
After much time and frustration, I found out, that this number needs to manually also be added to the 'Underpayments, overpayments and adjustments' in the 'Decrease in tax due because of adjustments to earlier year' box, to pull through into the tax return calculation.
Ideally once the number is entered the first time in the Capital Losses tab, the number should automatically be pulling through into the correct box within Adjustments.
